On Trend- Prom- Lacy Illusion

Lace & Illusion
Two  unique prom trends, but it's hard to find
one without the other.
We all know what lace is, but what exactly is Illusion?

Here's what Wikipedia had to say about it...

"any garment of clothing made with lace, mesh or sheer material that allows the wearer's body or undergarments to be seen through its fabric. See-through fabrics have been featured heavily on high-fashion runways since 2006. This use of see-through fabrics as a common element in designer clothing resulted in the "sheer fashion trend" that has been predominant in fashion circles since 2008.[1] See-through or sheer fabric, particularly in skin tone (called "nude") colors, is sometimes called illusion, as in 'illusion bodice' (or sleeve) due to giving the impression of exposed flesh.[2]"

Choosing the right corsage details to compliment your lace or Illusion prom dress.
Illusion Bodice

Think about the different fabrics and details in your dress when you're faced with
the many choices you have for your corsage..
 since Illusion is sheer-
choose a sheer ribbon- sheer black, off white/nude or choose your dress color
Sheer ribbons come in most colors and if you can't find the exact shade, don't worry,  a
shade darker or lighter will look great along with the rest of the flowers and accents.

Don't forget the lace..
you can add lacy metal leaf accents....

On Trend-Prom-All about That BLING!

For those that love it,
(and who doesn't love it at least a little?)
there's no such thing as too much bling!

Featured here is the new Cobblestone rhinestone bracelet with
Delphinium and Gleaming leaf accents. Notice the bling accent
on the ribbon as well.

Another corsage using Delphinium but with a very different look without
all the flowing ribbons. The bracelet style is  Monique and it's also new this year.

Contact your florist early to make sure your bracelet and accents are in stock, placing your order early also gives your florist time to order specialty items if needed.

This hot pink rose & feather is extra sweet using only a couple blooms.
This is designed on the new Maddie bracelet, with the Gleaming leaf accent.
 feathers add a little softness.

On Trend Prom - Brooches!

It was bound to happen...
The vintage brooch trend has made it's way into prom corsages. In the last few years they have shown up as accents in bridal bouquets or as the entire bridal bouquet.
I don't know who designed this lovely bouquet found while searching
but it's one of my favorites.

Look at all the different styles available to local florists for corsages this year!
Everything from vintage shapes to whimsical butterflies.
These are a bit different than a real brooch found in your grandma's jewelry box, since
they don't often have an actual fastener on the back to attach to a blouse or blazer.

Many of these, specifically designed for the floral industry,
have a a special metal pick with a platform
to attach the brooch.

And here designed into corsages...
As you can see in these examples, the brooch becomes the corsage focal point, with the flowers and accent ribbons
as accents. With a little imagination though, I can see some brooch styles placed to the side with flowers on the other side to balance the  corsage design.
